I wish I could go back and say don't bother, but it's too late..

Bought the trilogy, read the trilogy and can basically sum up the trilogy is less words then went into first chapter yet was strung along three books to be dropped off a cliff with an ending with no sense at the end..I get that Shifter is all the rage, and Romance is big in sales.. but we are not mindless drones so starved that Romance deprived to the point that no story flies..is some how acceptable to sell us three books.. I am basically going to review all three in the next two paragraphs and let you see if you want to go buy three books and see if there is anything I missed..
Book one, Temp starts a New Job, meats Bully of the office and decides she'll stand up to her and somehow with a one quip wonder puts her in her place. yea not really.. Mystery Boss who is virtually never seen before suddenly sees her and wow gives her a priceless family talisman because he somehow guesses she's a Native American Goddess come back to earth. She goes home and suddenly necklace acts up and a cougar tries to kill her but a second one saves the day. the end. Book two she wakes up the next day is sore well duh she got mauled last night but go to work act fine no problem.. At work meets second reclusive boss and suddenly is wait for it, yea they are both shifters ! No erotica so that's at least a plus. They must get to the safty of the reservation and suddenly they meet the rival Native tribe.. and well what do you know the lady steps forward and says lets all just get along.. and they all just troop off to the reservation together.
Book three...Reservation check, Father and son Issues Check,.. they must verify her reincarnated spirit so into the reservation, sweat lodge where TADA dream shows she has some small potential.. they go to sleep that night still no erotica thankfully because that would have tanked this trilogy in a heart beat..gotta stay off the sex until training is complete..well not a complete flop but still a super let down story line basis..because it ends.. just jumps off a cliff face when she is woken in the middle of the night by a character she has known less then 24 hours says the guy you had been trusting is the bad guy.. the END. No explanations..No stay tuned for the continuing saga, in the next book, these have the page numbers of a comic book of the sixties and seventies and less plot then they had. What gets me is that in an attempt to review a work and give it a fair read I have read two series by the same group and both are well kindle so I can't say not worth the paper and ink..but be thankful a tree didn't give up it's like for this.. Three books, a little over 24 hours and THE END excuse me did some of the story get eaten by the editor's dog? Where is it a great ending of a trilogy to wake someone in the middle of the night and say the person you are attracted to is the evil one come with me to escape and THE END I know there will be friends of the author that will blast me for not giving her a good review, sorry I bought it I earned the right to say what I got from it.. The first two books may have been a free taste me, like me.. but the third I wasted money and a half hour on.. and yea you can read all three books in under an hour and a half.. If you are going to write a story did you skip the classes that said outline your work so that it has a beginning, a peak and an ending..some books actually have roller coaster ride in them where you get multiple ups and downs and twist and turns.. this feels like the kiddle coaster that never gets more the four feet off the ground and everyone gets a participant award for going for the ride. I wrote a story to entertain family and put out over 500,000 words and no end in sight.. because I want to continue to entertain.. this is put out a book report and hope that you get enough people to try it and you break even.. If the author doesn't put out the effort why should the reader care to follow the author into the next set of books she/he may write? I recommend reading it out loud to a small group of strangers, number one reading out loud gives you points where dialogue doesn't flow, strangers will ask questions as to why did that happen or did I miss something there?? That is your clue to go back and flesh out the questions so that they make sense.. You had Great potential the outline is great, then it's like you ripped off the second half and only wrote the first part.. Go back and FINISH the Books If you do to Please do so in one book and NOT three..You are allowed to write more then 40 pages you know..

Too Short! Good read so far...

This is a great second read in the series, but they are just so short. This installment and the first just whet your appetite for more, but I am one of those readers that wants it all at once rather than in dribs and drabs.

The storyline is heating up, but there is so much hanging in the air with both reads of this series. Diana is finding out things she is not so sure she wants to know, and definitely does not understand. She knows she, Cat and Charlie are in big trouble, but doesn't really know why or from who. A note that said "trust no one" keeps coming to her mind as she sorts through all the incredible mess that has been her life since she took the temp job with Cat's company.

To be left hanging, yet again, is just not the best way to get me to continue in any series! But since I have read the first two, might as well go for the next one!

Not as it seems

This is an amazing continuation! Everything is not what I thought it was after reading the first book! The pace of this one is also much faster. There's lots of excitement. Characters are interesting and pretty well developed. Cliffhanger ending that made me rush out to buy the third installment! Definitely recommend this series so far!

About the Author
Conrad Phillip Kottak (A.B. Columbia, 1963; Ph.D. Columbia, 1966) is Professor and Chair of Anthropology at the University of Michigan, where he has taught since 1968. In 1991 he was honored for his teaching by the University and the state of Michigan. In 1992 he received an excellence in teaching award from the College of Literature, Sciences, and the Arts of the University of Michigan. In 1999 the America Anthropological Association awarded Professor Kottak the AAA/Mayfield Award for Excellence in the Undergraduate Teaching of Anthropology.

Professor Kottak has done fieldwork in cultural anthropology in Brazil (since 1962), Madagascar (since 1966), and the United States. Conrad Kottak's articles have appeared in academic journals including American Anthropologist, Journal of Anthropological Research, American Ethnologist, Ethnology, Human Organization, and Luso-Brazilian Review. He has also written for more popular journals, including Transaction/SOCIETY, Natural History, Psychology Today, and General Anthropology.

In current research projects, Kottak and his colleagues have investigated the emergence of ecological awareness in Brazil, the social context of deforestation in Madagascar, and popular participation in economic development planning in northeastern Brazil.

About the Author
Charles William Kegley is a past president of the International Studies Association, and has been serving the past two decades on the Board of Trustees of the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs. Kegley holds the title of Pearce Distinguished Professor of International Relations Emeritus at the University of South Carolina. A graduate of the American University (B.A.) and Syracuse University (Ph.D.) and a Pew Faculty Fellow at Harvard University, Kegley previously served on the faculty at Georgetown University, and has held visiting professorships at the University of Texas, Rutgers University, the People's University of China, and the Institute Universitaire de Hautes �tudes Internationales Et du Developpement in Geneva Switzerland. He is also a recipient of the Distinguished Scholar Award of the Foreign Policy Analysis Section of the International Studies Association. A founding partner of Kegley International, Inc. (a publishing, research, and consulting foundation), Kegley has authored more than 50 scholarly books and over 100 articles in journals.

Gregory A. Raymond is a University Distinguished Professor at Boise State University, where he holds the the Frank and Bethine Church Chair of Public Affairs. Raymond has received nine major teaching awards, including Idaho Professor of the Year from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, and has published numerous articles articles and books, including THIRD WORLD POLITICS OF INDUSTRIALIZED NATIONS, which received an Outstanding Academic Book Award from the American Library Association. Together Kegley and Raymond have coauthored and/or coedited nine books on foreign policy and world politics as well as more than two dozen published articles. A graduate of Park College and the University of South Carolina, Raymond was a Pew Faculty Fellow at Harvard University.

Magic Book of Leadership Secrets

This book maybe one of the best leadership resources I've seen in years. I'll put this right up next to Simon Sinek's "Leaders Eat Last", Dr. Henry Cloud's "Boundaries for Leaders", or even Steve Jobs biography by Walter Isaacson.

John delivers great content by focusing on the questions that he asks himself and his team, and the questions other leaders ask him. I find the questions themselves provide great value. I can use them with my team, my inner circle, my peers, my mentors and myself.

Then, what's even better, is that John gets behind the questions. Like a great magician revealing the secrets of his craft, John reveals the leadership principles of how to see through the challenges that leaders often face.

I can't imagine a leader not getting value out of this book, and I am looking forward to masterminding this book further with my peers In the weeks, months and years ahead.

Profound Questions Yield Profound Answers: Developing Wisdom, Creativity, Confidence, Productivity, and Connection

"Good Leaders Ask Great Questions" caught my attention immediately upon publication. The art and power of asking questions became a subject of interest for me in the 1990s as I watched the award-winning PBS Fred Friendly Seminars. Friendly utilized the Socratic Dialogue format to explore urgent social and public policy issues.

Socratic questioning is disciplined questioning that can be used to pursue thought in many directions and for many purposes, including: to explore complex ideas, to get to the truth of things, to open up issues and problems, to uncover assumptions, to analyze concepts, to distinguish what we know from what we don't know, to follow out logical implications of thought or to control the discussion.

Author John Maxwell in "Good Leaders" adapts this format to great, day-to-day leadership by emphasizing the effective use of questions for:

* Getting profound answers with profound questions that can facilitate confidence, wise decision-making, crystal-clear focus in life, prioritization.
* Unlocking and opening doors that otherwise remain closed, yielding possibilities that can lead to opportunities, experiences, and understanding people.
* Connecting with people. What is asked matters. So does how it is asked.
* Cultivating humility. Fear of being unable to say "I don't know" keeps leaders vulnerable and insecure.
* Engaging others in conversation. Great questions communicate to others that you value them and tyou want to add value to them.
* Building better ideas by providing different perspectives. The true spirit of dialogue is essential to creativity by building on another's observation, not overturning it.
* Minimizing faulty assumptions about other people. "Before you attempt to set things right, make sure you see things right."
* Challenging mind-sets and getting us out of ruts. The question "why" is a question of discovery.

Maxwell's book is segmented into two parts.Part One "Questions I Ask" focuses on "What questions do I ask myself as a leader?" and "What questions do I ask my team." These include (with an explanation of the importance of each): Are you investing in yourself? How do you see your future? How do others see you? Are you generally interested in others? Are you grounded? Are you adding value? Are you staying in your strength zone? Are you investing your time with the right people? How good a listener are you? Do I want to hear what I need to hear? Do I interrupt? What do you think? How can I serve you? What did you learn? What do I need to know? What am I missing?

Part Two "Questions Leaders Ask Me" was sourced from questions solicited via twitter, Facebook, Maxwell's blog, and 4000 certified coaches. These include questions like: What must I do to lead myself successfully? How does leadership work? How do I get started in leadership? How do I resolve conflict and lead challenging people? How can I succeed working under poor leadership? How can they successfully navigate leadership transitions? How can I develop leaders? Much in part two is derived from previous books by Maxwell. This is useful as it is a good reminder of fundamental leadership issues, issues which need constant reinforcement. One specific list of questions that will benefit all readers is his list of questions on how people can lead themselves successfully.

"Good Leaders" will be useful to those in leadership or aspire to leadership roles. Maxwell shows how a disciplined and thoughtful question-based approach provides an effective tool box for the leader and his/her team. Examples include questions that:

* Help others to clarify their thinking, e.g., `Why do you say that?', `Could you explain further?'
* Challenge others about assumptions, e.g., `Is this always the case?', `Why do you think that this assumption holds here?'
* Clarify evidence as a basis for dialogue and decisions, e.g., `Why do you say that?', `Is there reason to doubt this evidence?'

Questioning is intimately connected with critical thinking because the art of questioning is important to excellence of thought. Critical thinking and Socratic questioning both seek meaning and truth. Critical thinking provides the rational tools to monitor, assess, and perhaps reconstitute or re-direct our thinking and action. Socratic questioning is an explicit focus on framing self-directed, disciplined questions to achieve that goal.

John Maxwell is recognized internationally as a leadership expert and has written many books focusing on leadership. Titles include "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership" , "The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader: Becoming the Person Others Will Want to Follow," "Developing the Leader Within You." Each sold over a million copies. He has been named to Amazon.com's Hall of Fame. "Good Leaders Ask Great Questions" is as provocative as his earlier titles. it highlights the role great questions play in critical thinking, and it challenges the reader to assess his/her ability to ask great questions.

Maxwell continues to ask himself the same questions he discussed in Chapter 2 over and over again. They continue to guide his leadership and help him to harness and be accountable for the gifts and advantages he has been given. Maxwell believes that by asking questions, he can also harness the power of every member of his team. Asking questions begs to be developed and should become a regular discipline...as "Good leaders ask great questions."

Tremendous Insight Into Mind of Maxwell

Having read several of Maxwell's books over the years, I knew I was in for a treat before starting this read. However, what grabbed me about this book is that Maxwell and his team decided to take a couple of years and narrow down the questions most asked about leadership and then compile them categorically into a readable format. The result is a real glimpse into the mindset of John Maxwell, known as one of the top leadership gurus in the world. Add to the fact that he is a Christian and served as a pastor for many years and you have a fascinating read and insight into one of the keenest minds on this important subject of leadership.

The book is broken down into two parts: 1) Questions I Ask and 2) Questions Leaders Ask Me. Under the two parts the following questions are answered:

The three chapters that were most helpful to me were "What Must I Do to Lead Myself Successfully?", "How Do I Resolve Conflict and Lead Challenging People?", "How Can I Successfully Navigate Leadership Transitions?"

I underlined, starred, and marked up so much of this book, I don't know exactly what to include in this review. I do know that if you have any type of leadership role or have a desire to learn leadership, this is a tremendous book. As always with Maxwell's books, this volume is infused with applicable anecdotes and timely quotes.

Here are a few of my favorite parts of the book:

When I was a young leader, I didn't feel wise enough, strong enough, mature enough, competent enough, confident enough, or qualified enough. When I began to be honest with myself, allow my weaknesses to humble me, and go to God for help, I began to change. I became more open and authentic. I was willing to admit my mistakes and weaknesses. I developed appropriate humility, and I began to change and grow...Before I had been unwilling to be wrong, and as a result I had been unable to discover what was right. Isn't it strange how we must surrender being right in order to find what's right, how humility enables us to be authentic, vulnerable, trustworthy, and intimate with others? People are open to those who are open to them.
