This book is a great resource for any student or practitioner seeking a better understanding of the complexity of health and illness.

Dr Kate Hamilton- West discusses the relationship between the psychological and biological factors of health and illness in a way which is both engaging and practical. The book goes beyond the common examination of symptom and remedy and presents a much more in depth and relevant approach to patient focused therapy.

This book has made a real difference to my professional approach in patient care. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who is considering a career in the health care industry.

Needs to be proofread!

I'm reviewing algebra after not doing math for almost 6 years. I already had a basic understanding of algebra from high school so this book is good in that it's straight to the point. I'm only about 1/4 of the way through and there's already been 3 instances where the examples have completely confused me because there are mistakes in the problems. Don't believe me? Check out page 14, they're switching the signs when finding the remainder but they don't mention it anywhere in the lesson. On page 40 the exponent is a typo so the solution makes no sense! These are just a few of the mistakes I've come across and I'm sure there will be more so if you're buying this book be prepared for confusion.

This book does a hell of a good job reminding us of the quick rules and formulas of college algebra. Examples are given for every instance, and in most cases are exactly what the doctor ordered. A great quick reference, can't go wrong here for 6 bucks! Many thanks to the author!!

I picked up this book because I wanted to be a successful official and was hoping to learn the theories behind what makes a good official. The book was a fun read. While it cover how to get into the field, I found the best parts were tips on how to develop skills in the areas of communication, decision making, and conflict management. It would be nice if everyone would just get along, but when emotions are high, player or coaches will often try to gain an advantage by gaming the officials.

Good supplement to a text book

I bought this book to help me study for a Governmental Accounting class final. I wish I had the book the entire semester. It's a well written, concise book that boils down the intricate details of governmental accounting that is presented in text books into the more manageable and understandable essentials. It must have helped, because I ended up receiving an "A" in the course.

Excellent Supplement to Academic Text

I purchased this book because I was taking a Governmental Accounting class online & the required text was awful! I needed some immediate help, and my instructor was no help so (as usual!), I turned to Amazon.

The title of this book says it all. The author explains the very difficult concepts of governmental accounting very clearly. It is easy to decipher what the funds are and how they inter-relate. This book is very well written and follows a logical, sequencial path. I never would have passed my class without this book!

Not a bad book for a beginning Governmental accounting book. I had no true "accounting" background when I started my job with a government agency, but had done bookkeeping for other businesses using just basics and common sense. It was definately different. This book helps guide you through all the different aspects of governmental accounting. It's very dry reading, but very imformative. You can actually find what you are looking for in the index and go right there and get the info you need quickly. I do recommend it to anyone getting in that type of accounting

Great Story

I am faced with the dilemma of dying to know what happens next and being thoroughly aggravated with the discrepancies. Here are a couple - it is well established from the first novels that vamps are immune to human diseases but they keep getting sick even taking antibiotics. They heal fast but require stitches. Now, the real thing that is starting to chap my behiney - the over abundance of stupid going on. For example: paraphrased I am not going let my wife become pregnant for fear of her dying.....so what the two day needing he's going to let the neighbor take care of her. Let's go hunting lessers, but hey my female might get mad so I guess I will go out alone to hunt especially since I'm almost blind and the king. Vamps have these biological mating bonds but every single one of the matches starts with I gotta leave her/him I'm not good enough.....as if they could ignore their nature ...and here is what has become intolerable...the author continues using the same artifice to create tension and drama.....everybody is an idiot. See, the base story rocks, the romance though over the top, rocks. It's like when other authors us love triangles to accomplish the same....the "I can't decide which one to choose nonsense...."Guaranteed no sale.

So in a nutshell:

Story is great but the weaknesses, everybody being stupid, and the ailments has soured my enjoyment of this series. However, the author sure can spin a tale and make you fall in love with her characters. The question is...do you care enough to continue the series or quit especially when you know everything you complained about is only going to get worse. I just wish the author dropped everything I complained about and made her characters fallible but not stupid. So I suspect you are asking...continue or not.....yeah gonna get the next one. Gotta find out what happens next with Xhex...really love big Bad A chicks.

I love Rehvenge, I really do. That being said, I found the first half of this book to be pretty slow. He's in a sucky situation all around and I believe he does the best he can with how he handles it all. Ehlena is a very strong woman, albeit a little plain. Her plainness is enchanting too. We learn a lot about the sympaths in this book and they are creeptastic for sure. Rehv's ending isn't ideal, but it makes sense and works out. I look forward to Xhex and JM's book, but I'm also a little afraid of it. I don't look forward to reading about Lash ever.

In addition to Rehvenge, we see from Wrath's POV a lot too. It's nice to see him in action again, but my heart also breaks for him. In his struggles, though, he brings a new character to light.

Lover Avenged is both predictable and surprising and is worth the slowness of the beginning. Wrath features heavily too and that always makes me happy.

May be my favorite of the Brotherhood series

Rhevenge has been a favorite of mine in earlier books. This time, he gets his own story. Loved loved loved it. Elhena's character is very realistic, and the perfect foil in many ways to the series storylines. She's a nurse, a caregiver, and a woman struggling to handle the cards dealt to her with some dignity. She's sensible and strong, but alone. I've known so many women like her. And that's the real appeal of so many characters in this universe. Yes, they're vampires, and yes, most of them are physically jaw-droppingly gorgeous. But they have many of the same problems as the rest of us.

I also thought the tendrils of the next few books were woven in with a skilled hand. Really looking forward to more. Oh yeah, and the sex is terrific.

A satisfying complete work beautifully written and presented.

I have just put down what will be a classic and required reading in anthropology departments. 'Unbound' is more: it is a highly readable, believable history of how Man became what s/he is. It's a big book, and getting five million years into some 400+ pages must have been a Herculean task of editing for Currier. I read it almost at a sitting. Rarely can one call a work of non-fiction a page-turner, but this one is. And having been a Professor of Anthropology or actively involved in practical anthropology all my working life, and looking for the faults and what's missing, I am surprised to say at no point did I stop and note 'this is wrong' or 'he missed out ~'. This is one of those satisfying complete works that will appeal equally to the academic and the educated 'man in the street'. The structure is more than clever, it is original: with inventions leading up to language, the point at which most assessments of modern man begin. The reader will get some new viewpoints on early development ~ bipedalism and the invention of the spear stand out~ and, most importantly, how the bits go together to make evolution. The title is as brilliant as the 'binding' into various parts for ease of reference. Read Darwin, then read Currier. We are going to hear much of this book.

Dr. Currier's highly accessible work is alive with the energy of discovery. Synthesizing insights from paleontology, primatology, cultural anthropology, and related sciences it surprises and challenges accepted narratives of human evolution. Amazing Read!

Loving to read a good book of any kind, I so often find that reading non-fiction can be a tedious labor, with the book's author approaching a single subject from a hundred different angles, to create a book from what could have been discussed in a chapter. Not so with Unbound! With ten chapters, eight technologies and five million years of history on earth as a subject matter, this book is as enjoyable to read as it is full of information on the evolution of humanity and technology from pre-history until today.

I will tell you right up front, I know Richard Currier, the author, and I was one of the people he trusted with reading Unbound in its very early stages. So I had the opportunity to read a draft of the manuscript awhile ago, but only piecemeal and not necessarily in the correct order of chapters or copy. Even at that, it read well and I was looking forward to getting the book. Having recently received my pre-ordered copy from Amazon, I had the opportunity to read the the book in its entirety. Wow! I was hooked from the introduction, but found that as reading the chapters progressed, I didn't want to put the book down. I love when that happens! By the end of chapter ten, I was sorry I had gone through it so fast... I didn't want it to end.

I am sure that people with deep interest in anthropology, paleontology, technology, history and early history are going to gravitate to Unbound. I see the book has received praise from professors and professionals in those fields. As a lover of learning, I enjoyed the opportunity to gain more knowledge on those subjects.

The book is written in the style of a storyteller, not a technician, making it a great read for all.
