Born in Dresden, East Germany, in 1932, Gerhard Richter migrated to West Germany in 1961, settling in D�sseldorf. He has exhibited internationally for the last five decades, with retrospectives in New York, Paris and D�sseldorf. He lives and works in Cologne.

I bought this book for my own library and to have as reference material for giving classes. The pictures are lush and really gives a feeling for his painting. It's a big thick book full of delicious pictures. Of course, nothing from a book is as good as seeing the real thing, but this is probably among the top five gallery books I have, and I image will go back to it from time to time for inspiration.

Excellent art book
By The photo book: "Vacant Eden"
I bought this as an inspiration for my husband who is also an abstract painter. It's a great art book in that it has copious, fine illustrations and a lot of information. Good color plates and printing techniques were used for the illustrations, which is a must in our art library.
