Interesting Read

With a hero to die for and just a touch of suspense, Penalty Clause is a good addition to any romance reader's library.
I can understand Jill's reluctance to trust again after her husband's adultery. And Andrew ... no wonder he never spoke to his parents again! I can't even imagine that kind of betrayal. Still, with the background between these two, I admit I found it somewhat difficult they couldn't overcome their doubts and fears. They were friends first, after all.
I really did love Andrew... what a yummy hero! He was so sweet and thoughtful and sexy enough to take your breath away. I envied Jill from the start. The things he did for her up to and including the penalty clause surely should have proved where his heart was, but he just could not say those all important words.
Ms. Ryan has done a wonderful job creating three dimensional characters in a well-plotted book. I understand this is book two in a series, and while it was clear there was a story I'd missed, since we met some newly marrieds, I never had trouble following anything in this book. When characters are this strong and clear, I'll keep reading even when the plot has blips. And I especially loved Andrew's grandmother -- what a hoot!
The author is exceptionally talented and the book editing was tight and clean. I enjoyed Penalty Clause even when I wanted to take Jill and Andrew and smack them upside their heads. Really what that means is that I was completely invested in them and their HEA! The plot was interesting (and had a surprising twist), the characters fabulous and the sex hot. I'm fully planning to go back and gobble up book one!

In a relationship do you have to be all in to make it work?

Jill and Andrew are definitely goal driven and every day they move forward knowing that their hard work will produce a golden return. Jill is freshly divorced from a manipulative man and starting over in her grandparent's home which is a hop, skip, and a jump over the fence from where Andrew is currently staying. These two may have passed like ships in the night when they were young, but now they are adults both looking for romance in a relationship without love being a part of it will make them a good fit. There is so much water under the relationship hurt bridge that neither Jill nor Andrew are sure they can commit, but sure can heat up the night.
Andrew has been inspired by his grandmother's encouragement and love who always told him to follow his dreams and gather them in his arms, a plan he is about to execute with Jill. Not as open to the idea of a relationship Jill does seem to be warming up to Andrew who is tethering her to him with stability and an open minded idea of how two people work together in a relationship. Both Jill and Andrew have been seriously ego deflated and humiliated by their prior involvements but at some point both know you have to get over it, move on, and love again. Along with friends and family surrounding them it is easy to find yourself falling in love for all the right reasons.
With a crazy drive to make sure they are both in this completely Andrew and Jill learn how to love again and set the capture something bigger than the both of them. The only problem is there is someone out there that does not want them together and the serious steps this person is taking to keep them permanently apart are frightening.
What an romantic, and gripping read from Lori Ryan who shows she knows how to write a book readers want to read.

Wow again.
I am actually writing a review for both Sutton Capital books today. Read the first one (Legal Ease) and straight on to Penalty Clause (which was given to me by the author for an honest review.
Well, what can I say? Wonderful book, wonderful characters and wonderful story line. Talk about sexy men in this series. Can't wait for Chad and Jennie's story. Highly recommended.
These books do need to be read in order.
